During his tenure as Head Curator at Artbank from 2011 to 2017 Daniel Mudie Cunningham oversaw the acquisition of over 1000 artworks into the collection. His legacy to Artbank, however, is perhaps best measured by the active publishing – through Sturgeon from 2013 to 2016 – and commissioning programs he initiated, starting in 2011 with Artbank’s first video commission, Soda_Jerk’s The Popular Front.
Among the numerous Australian artists he commissioned, highlights include Yarrenyty Arltere Artists, Ross Manning, Juz Kitson, Todd Robinson, Chris Dolman, Tarryn Gill, Mark Shorter, Justin Trendall, and the Ken Sisters, along with various video art commissions from Daniel Kojta, Greedy Hen, Rebecca Agnew, Dean Manning, and the artists in the Performutations series.
